Session 2 - What is Mindful Finance?
It’s a fact that money and the financial aspects of our lives can cause stress, but by engaging with our financial lives in a nonjudgmental container of mindfulness we can find workability, empowerment and joy.
Session 3 - The Mindful Finance Journey
How can mindfulness enable us to write the story of our financial lives? Starting with developing a mindfulness practice, we can begin to unveil the fruition qualities of confidence, cheerfulness, and generosity. Over time, the money part of our lives becomes an opportunity for self-discovery and developing wellness, rather than a source of anxiety and confusion.
Session 4 - The Mindful Finance Technique – Breathe, Feel and Speak
In this session will look at HOW to bring your innate wisdom into the present moment when working with your finances. We will discuss a technique we call Breathe, Feel and Speak
Session 5 - Experiential Learning
Sol guides us through an experiential learning exercise, looking at the difference between our current and ideal financial situations. Sol shows us that we already have a lot of innate wisdom which can guide us in our financial decisions.
Session 6 - Mindfulness - Being awake to our life as it happens.
We make better decisions if we are in touch with the moment and our feelings; meditation is the tool that cultivates the mindful experience.
Session 7 - Guided Meditation
In this focused-attention meditation, we will begin to exercise our metacognition: the ability to have an experience and, at the same time, be aware that we’re having this experience. Eventually, we will be able to tap into this awareness instantaneously and bring it into our financial lives.
Session 8 - Mindful Finance Investing
How do we apply mindful finance to our investment strategies?
Sol covers the three tenets of mindful finance investing — values alignment, authentic relationships, and recognition of interdependence — which help us to feel excited and proud of our personal investments. By turning our awareness inward and calling on our innate intelligence, we can bridge the gap between our values and our financial lives, bringing humanity back to the investing process.
Session 9 - Personal balance sheet – creating a snapshot of your financial life.
In this session Sol will guide us through creating a personal balance sheet. Again, we will explore how important it is to be gentle with ourselves and let go of any embarrassment which may be attached with these topics. In applying the mindful finance ground qualities of pragmatism, bravery, and sense of humor to this personal balance sheet exercise, we will gain invaluable information about ourselves.
Session 10 - Budgeting – Tools and tricks for a solid budget
In applying the mindful finance ground qualities of pragmatism, bravery, and sense of humor to this monthly budgeting exercise, we will gain invaluable information about ourselves. Using non-judgement, we can then begin to identify financial goals for the future which we will further explore in later sections of the course.
Session 11 - Exploring Feelings Around Money
In this session, we take a deep dive into the feelings we may have around money, no matter our resourced circumstances. We will discuss common learned attributes such as shame and pride, and we will start to unpack these feelings, exploring why they persist.
Session 12 - Habit Change
Sol will guide us through a practical exercise called safe experimentation which we can use to change our habits around money in ways that are palatable, interesting and enjoyable.
Session 13 - How to Save
Saving and accumulating capital are some of the most important aspects we consider in our financial lives. In this session Sol will help us pragmatically examine our relationship with saving and introduce an exercise to facilitate a habit of saving. Walking the path of mindfulness, we will soon realize that money can bring us joy, worthiness, and generosity.
Session 14 - How to Shop – Conscious Consumerism
Our culture is built around consumerism and we can dramatically change the scope of society through our consumer decisions. Buying something is an opportunity to learn about ourselves and in this class, Sol will share a practical three step process: pause, consider and choose which can be used the next time you are considering your next purchase.
Session 15 - How to Give — Connecting to Community and Letting Go
This session explores the topic of giving as a way of bringing generosity into our lives. Sol outlines the ways in which we can cultivate a personal path of giving and how we can ultimately turn this into a journey of self-discovery and growth. Integrating the idea of safe experimentation, Sol will walk us through a brief exercise in order to familiarize ourselves with a deeper level of giving: one without the expectation of return or attachment to the result of our generosity.
Session 16 - Life Hacks
Sol will share helpful and practical Mindful Finance life hacks which help to bring attention and mindfulness to our body, our emotions and the activities of our daily life. This session is a culmination of all we have covered and leaves us with very helpful and practical skills we can use every day.
Session 17 - Gratitude & Appreciation
As the course comes to a close Sol will walk us through an exercise in gratitude and appreciation, showing us how money can become a beautiful part of life. We thank you for your diligence and bravery in engaging this difficult subject of money.
